Before I go into my topic for my research paper, I would like to give a brief overview of Greek organizations and how they came about. Some people know about Greek life and others may not. Giving a brief over view will give insight to this paper. Secret societies have long been a part of the cultural makeup of the United States. Students at the College of William & Mary in 1776 formed a secret society called Phi Beta Kappa. This was the first Greek fraternity and set the model for those to follow: Greek letters, a secret ritual, a secret handshake, mottoes, a badge, and a code of ethics for all members. The main topic for my paper is Examining the benefits of Greek Life. Based on research from multiple sources I have found that Greek life directly correlates to obtaining a job after graduation. The skills needed to thrive in the workforce are enhanced through involvement in Greek letter organizations. I also found that fraternities and sororities look for these certain skills throughout the new member recruitment process.
