Have you ever seen the Great Wall of China and wondered what it REALLY took to build such an amazing world wonder? Well, even though the Great Wall was designed by multiple dynasties to protect China from invading mongols thousands of years ago, it took more than just hard work and time to construct. The Great Wall of China’s costs can heavily outweigh the benefits of how it caused China to go hungry, out of debt, and how it costed the lives of many workers and peasants forced to build it.

As represented in Document C, lots of the hard working people of China were forced to pay their part in the wall. This had to make them upset and angry, also leaving them without almost any money left to trade and do their everyday activities. This could also lead to the people of China going hungry because if being unable to afford food and goods to support both themselves and their families.
Of course, some people might argue that the Great Wall of China had many benefits as well, protecting China from outside invaders, as the documents frequently try to be convinced that the Great Wall's benefits didn't outweigh the costs. Though the Great Wall DID have many benefits, it serves almost nothing to China today but something nice to visit and only protected China for a short time. It certainly took more lives than it saved.
To conclude, the Great Wall of China's cost outweighed its benefits because of how many lives it took to construct and what it did to the people of China.
