A Great Fucking Paper When someone goes to look for the perfect, yet simple insult, or if they want to express anger, distraught, or many other feelings, there is one word that is so versatile with many different definitions that fits in all of these categories and more. This word is fuck. Although it’s rather vulgar and is a common slang term, the word fuck has been around for over 700 years. The exact origin of fuck is hard to trace back because it was used more regularly when speaking rather than in written form (“Fuck” Wikipedia). Some people believe that fuck originally was an acronym. They think it comes from a time when sex was illegal in England unless the King consented for it. Those who wanted to have a baby went to the King and …show more content…
The primary and most common definition is “to have sexual intercourse with.” An example of this would be, “they fucked last night.” It is also used to mean “to deceive/to kid.” Also “to take advantage of.” Also “to disregard.” Fuck is also used as an interjection for emphasis. You can use it as an insult or an insulting retort. It can also be used as an exclamation of displeasure. There are also many forms of fuck as a question: “who the fuck?”, “what the fuck?”, “when the fuck?”, “where the fuck?”, “why the fuck?”, and “the fuck?” There are also many compound words and phrases that go with the word fuck. In 1928, motherfucker became the second most severe of the profanity terms, behind cunt and before fucker (“Fuck” Wikipedia). It’s a more intense version of fucker. MF became an abbreviation for motherfucker in 1948. In 1969, clusterfuck came about and means a “bungled or confused undertaking.” MILF came about in 1999 and stands for “mother I’d like to …show more content…
The word is censored on most television programs and on the radio and the use is highly frowned upon in formal settings like in school and in the workplace. This is because two forms of fuck are in the top three most severe profanity words. “Fuck is an old word, even if it's been an almost taboo term for most of its existence. It was around; it just wasn't used in common speech all that much, let alone written down and saved for posterity” (Mikkelson).
Fuck does not appear in historical dictionaries including Samuel Johnson’s and Noah Webster’s. Although fuck was around and used, it wasn’t common and it was seen as too vulgar. “Fuck did not appear in any widely consulted dictionary of the English language from 1795 to 1965. Its first appearance in the Oxford English Dictionary (along with the word cunt) was in 1972” (“Fuck” Wikipedia).
Since fuck is a slang word and is profanity, the definitions used on Urban Dictionary are not much different than from other sources. Fuck is defined as “the word of all words, the only word you can use in any situation.” The sentence example is, “Oh Fuck!!!! (anger, excitement, sadness, confusion, stupidity, pleasure, disappointment, hysterical, boredom, exhaustion, happiness, fright, frustration, shock, being disgusted, depression, surprised, embarrassment, being ashamed, jealousy, loneliness, anxiousness, shyness, and anything fucking else you fucking people

In order for Peter to be charged with disturbing the peace with his foul language, you would have to determine if his speech was considered obscene. To determine this, you would use the Supreme Court case of Cohen v. California. Under Cohen v. California, Peter’s speech qualifies as only indecent – which is still protected by the First Amendment. “Fuck the fucking fuckers” is not a direct threat to anyone, and although the word choice may be deemed obscene by members of the public, under Cohen v. California, it would be ruled indecent because his speech did not provoke the disturbing of the peace, and therefore would still be protected under the First…

Recently, political correctness has swept into the forefront of modern day culture. The term has come to mean a variety of things, but at its core is an idea that words and actions should not offend or make anyone uncomfortable. However, South Park has managed to remain strong to its roots by still being inflammatory and offensive with the series continuing to draw heaps of criticism from many different groups. While South Park may not conform to what polite society expects, it manages to provide biting satire and commentary. Marcus Schulzke argues in “South Park and the Transformation of Meaning” that a hateful word’s meaning can be changed over time which can be seen in “The F-Word” in which the boys call a group of loud bikers “fags” as they try to get them to leave town (2012).…
