Grass Purple Monologue

“Why is the grass purple?” Mother asks. Her voice sounds distant, and I continue to draw. From right where I am, I’m not too far away from her, but I don’t really want to pay attention. I sit at small wooden stool at that the only table in our house. Like everything else, it’s made of wood. Not that I mind. Nothing else really matters while I draw, it’s my quiet time. Well, sort of. Usually she does say something mean about my pictures, and I still draw no matter what she says. But Mother seems to have a different idea. Right as I’m almost finished coloring the grass in my picture of the forest, her hand swoops down. She holds the paper up to face and scowls.
“What exactly have you drawn, Navin?” She persists again. I shrug and glance out

Matthew Furman Brown is doing much better. Much more talkative today and joking with everyone. He was moved out of ICU last night and I got to lay with him for the first time in awhile. Memory is still foggy and he hurts everywhere. He didn't believe me when I said my bday was 4/27 (we share the same day) and that was a shock to him.…

... you probably can't tell, but I'm living up to my title of Lord of the Sighs at the moment. Some of you might remember the SoulSilver Scrublocke back in, what was it, early June? Totally forgot to continue that. I decided to just scrap that project altogether and play one of my favorite Pokemon games thus far, Black, because I'm black, too. Genius jokes are genius.…

I chose to create a floor plan of Melinda’s bedroom because she was the main character, and I felt that the setting was an important part of the book. Although the author of Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson, didn’t give readers a complete description of what Melinda’s bedroom looked like, I made some mental pictures of what I thought her bedroom and some of the decorations looked like. Melinda was described as a very creative girl who was very artistic. Her best grade on her report card was in art class, and it also seemed to be her favorite class.…

    Pony Boy Monologue

Ponyboy was really the first person I could express my opinions to and the first person I could really talk to about how I feel about this stupid social division we have to go by. Even though he doesn’t really understand how we Socs have problems too, I can see that he at least sort of understands- not completely, but just a little… Knowing that he sort of understands is a mixed feeling of relief and just a bit of an absurd feeling as well, I mean, a Soc and a greaser actually having a nice conversation.. I didn’t expect him to actually understand at all, but I also didn’t expect him to be completely ignorant about it either. “Cherry, look what’s coming,” Marcia quickly addressed. I watched the blue Mustang as it was coming down the street.…

This song strongly reminds me of Zach becasue he was always the master at pranks and finding ways to embarrass (bully) other students. The tone of the melody fits perfectly with Zach's personality becasue he is always thinking of a way to bully or pick on someone. According to pg. 14, the text states, "I did a quick scan to confirm there were no teachers looking on.... I reached up and snached a letter off.…

I don't think I'll ever forget myself as I was just then; my legs sprawled up on the picnic table and back arched to try and conform to the rigid wooden chair that would never be comfortable. My eyes were shut, and my sigh was soft. My chest hurt, but not in a broken-hearted kind of way. It was actually physical, but I tried to ignore it. I felt like crying for no reason, but I didn't.…

Blood. Blood is everywhere from underneath the rocks, splattered on people and the surrounding walls. The building collapsed, squishing the soft frail bodies of the people inside and outside the building, leaving others running in a panic. Then the middle of the road is engulfed by a sinkhole, people and cars smashed together as busted pipes spew water, filling it up. Gunshots ring out.…

I definitely was not prepared for black widows. Black widows were only something I had heard about through TV. Compared to the other ones I’ve chosen so far, this picture probably seems a bit different. Strange, even. That’s because unlike the others, the focus is not on me, nor any other person in my family. Rather, smack in the center of the picture sits a little dark puffball. That puffball happens to be one of the many Woolly Bear Caterpillars, which I called woollies, that I confronted, and even helped that day.…
