Decent Essays
Graham worked primarily with Ted Shawn when she was at the Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts. Graham improved her technique and began to dance professionally. In 1923, she left the Denishawn School; she was offered a position as a dancer with the Greenwich Village Follies. While Graham was at the Follies she was allowed to choreograph and design her own dances. She then left the Greenwich Village Follies and got a position at the Eastman School of Music. Graham was given full control over her classes as well as the dance program. She had her best students participate in her most experimental chorography.
