Graduation Speech: Going To A Catholic School

Improved Essays
Salutations. I’m Lily Cushing. Going to a Catholic School has been a great experience for me. Throughout my nine years at Mary Queen, I have made many friendships, learned many things, and grown in faith. I am very grateful to be able to go to a Catholic grade school and go to a Catholic high school next year.
Starting Kindergarten I was very excited to be able to go to school. I was thrilled to be able to go to the same school as my older brother. Getting an Eighth Grade Angel was one of my favorite things about Kindergarten. Both of my angels were my next door neighbors. They lead me to do good and have fun at the same time. I would always look up to them, literally. I made many friends and had a lot of laughs during Kindergarten.

Catholic Central High School is a truly beautiful campus to visit and I can’t even begin to fathom what it would be like to reside there during school. Currently, I go to Kraft Meadows Middle School located in Caledonia. I have been put through Caledonia schools my entire life, all throughout elementary and middle school. Quite frankly, it's gotten boring. If I am accepted into Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School I will be filled with joy.…

Chapter Six Just a week or two before kindergarten started we (my fellow kindergartners and I) had to go through kindergarten screening, just to see what we could do, like counting, shapes, colors and simple things like that. That went fairly well according to my parents, as I do not remember everything about it. One of the good things was that almost my entire class went to preschool together so we already knew who was who and we already had friends. Another fun thing that happened that year was our school put on a play, the play was about slavery and the underground railroad, and all of us little kids got to be slaves. Believe it or not we did not have a huge role in the play.…

They helped me grow up to think positive about life even if everything might be falling apart. At one point, I remembered my parents having to sell almost everything we owned in order to pay our bills, but somehow they managed to keep a smile on their faces. I never truly realized show serious the situation was until I grew older. I always wanted to help, but I was too young at the time to make any significant impact. Their positivity throughout their hardships however, impacted me to this day and influenced me to look at obstacles as a foundation to build on.…

Attending a catholic school for nine years has taught me alot. I honestly feel that catholic school makes me want to become a challenging person because the teachers push you to do good and if you are not doing very good they push you to do better. I love that all of the staff in the catholic school encourages us and makes us feel like we are important and that we will succeed. Kids from public schools may think that catholic schools are so strict, or they just dislike catholic schools but honestly, in my opinion, catholic schools are great schools. Most of the teachers in St. Margaret Catholic School made me realize that school is very important because without an education then I will be lost in this world, I will not succeed.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Graduation was a time to celebrate my achievements, to celebrate growing up and maturing into adulthood, to celebrate my friends and family that guided me along the way, and most importantly to celebrate one chapter coming to an end, and another one just beginning. The night before graduation I could hardly sleep as I knew that my high school career would soon be over. I got up that next morning, took a shower, put my makeup on, straightened my hair, and put my favorite black dress on, only this time I had my chords, cap, and gown to go with it.…
