S: It’s my pleasure. Now, Brothers and Keepers is only one of your impressive pieces of work? What makes this book so special?
M: The thing that makes Brothers and Keepers so special is that it directly addresses my incarcerated brother, Robby. It’s my personal letter to him.
S: Was it emotional to write the memoir and publish it to the public since it is so personal?

S: What was Robby charged with?
M: Robby is serving a life sentence for murder.
S: How did you feel when you heard your brother had been accused of murder?
M: I felt my heart was being ripped out of my chest. It shocked me when I found out he killed someone, but I soon realized that I didn’t truly know my little brother anymore. I then realized that my brother did have the possibility of being a killer.
S: How did the result of the trial make you feel?
M: The trial was heart breaking, but I had to stay strong. In times of need, Robby always came to me. If I freaked out, so would he. I needed to be positive for my brother. I’ve tried to uplift him, and I encourage him to do great and nice things for others while in prison.
S: Your brother was in a special program that the prison he is being held at offered. Can you tell us about the program?
M: My brother was in a program in which he was able to obtain an associate’s degree while being incarcerated. It was a wonderful thing for Robby. However, due to lack of funds, the program was cut. Robby was the first and last graduate. It really is a shame the program was cut. It could have helped so many prisoners not become a burden on society once they leave
