Graduation Speech: All Quiet On The Western Front

Fellow Americans, lend me your undivided attention for a moment. We all are aware of the ongoing war in Europe. Some are calling it “World War 2” while others call it “The Survival War” but I call it an opportunity! A few weeks ago, the Japanese attacked our base, Pearl Harbor, when we did nothing to deserve it! The Germans are also sinking our ships, some even carrying innocent passengers. These are complete acts of terrorism and will not be tolerated. This is the U.S.A and we don’t take that sort of treatment! We must join this fight. Not for revenge but to show these Axis countries who they’re messing with.
Now I know some of you will not agree with me on joining but either way, joining this war is inevitable. Our allies, The British, French, and even Russians are being destroyed by those Germans. They have blown through France, are trying to bomb the British into submission, and have invaded Russia. If we leave our allies there to defend themselves, they will leave us with no help when the time arises. If we want these powerful countries to still be our allies, we have to help them in their time of need. They need all the help they can get and they’re getting pretty desperate.

Now I will close my speech with something for you all to ponder on. For adults and children alike to think about. Will you, my fellow brothers in arms, follow me into battle, even if blind? Even if blind or deaf or dying, will you go head first into unknown terrains for the sake of this country? For the sake of the suffering people in those appalling camps? Will you fight for the sake of what is right or will you sit and idly watch as the world goes to war with itself? If you don’t want anything to do with the war, you might as well fly to the stars but if you’re willing to fight for innocent people, then you know where to go. Thank you for your

To many American citizens, entering the war was considered to be nothing to worry about and seemingly in the distant future, since the United States had just recently ended the Great Depression. However, when the U.S. was pulled into the war, World War II, First of all, many Americans wanted to avoid the conflict happening in Europe prior to 1941, due to the fact that the United States had just gotten out of the Great Depression. Most knew that getting involved would potentially harm the economy once again by spending money on warfare, hence jeopardizing recovery; which is why 25% of United States citizens believed that they should not give aid to either Germany or Britain (Doc 1). However, attitudes quickly shifted once the Japanese launched…

Everyone is trying to tell me to leave before I die, but I have already made up my mind. I have decided to stay and fight for my soon-to-be country because the men are dying, General Washington is getting support from congress to fight in the war and survive during winter, and I don’t want to be a slave in my own country. I told the men at Valley Forge that I was re-enlisting for three main reasons. The first being that we cannot win a war if we do not have any men. Over half the men are sick and dying and we need healthy men( Doc A).…

This book was composed so the world has the capacity know about the ruthlessness of war. No one is able to comprehend it but rather have the capacity to hear what war was similar to. To have the capacity to hear the confirmation of the abhorrences the fighters were confronted with consistently. The absolute most well-known war motion pictures, for example, Pearl Harbor, Saving Private Ryan, and The Patriot are all extraordinary war motion pictures. Then again, these motion pictures romanticized what war was similar to.…

Nevertheless, we must go now. An icy wind Is blowing violently, but, we still should march, in whatever conditions. Knowing that they were orders to shoot anyone who could not sustain the pace, makes me be more afraid, despite is essential to show no fear -for my son. From far behind I hear the SS shouting “Faster, you tramps, you flea-ridden dogs!”, therefore this makes me feel awful, with no purpose on live; following what others say. While running I constantly see all that people dying, innocent people, who have done no harm to them.…

My time at Valley Forge was over, I had been fighting for general George Washington since the summer of 1775 and the victory on April 13 looked so far away because it was only late December, and it was seeming as if a turning point was unlikely. Do I stay and be loyal to my brothers or do I leave and never look back. I had to make my choice very soon, I could have left and the pain of seeing my brothers die , or I could stay and fight for my freedom such as many men had already done. The decision I made was to stay and fight for my country because many men had gotten sick, and I was a faithful servant to my country and I wanted to do what I came to the new world to do which was achieved my freedom .…

In All Quiet on the Western Front by Enrich Maria Remarque, there is a common theme of ups and downs. As time progresses on the front lines and off, characters emotions alter. The soldiers struggle with keeping their humanity no matter the circumstances. The main character, Paul Baumer is practically stripped of his humanity by feeling like a foreigner in normal society and accepting violence, still he has sparks of humane behavior in the darkest of times.…

Paul Bauer from the novel All Quiet on the Western Front and Adolf Eichmann were both guilty of a lot, granted one character is a piece of historical fiction while the other is real, but how similar are they, really? Paul Bauer and other German soldiers committed atrocities upon the opposing armies during World War 1 such as the use chlorine gas. Adolf Eichmann is responsible for sending millions of Jewish people to what were essentially death camps, where some were worked to nigh death and others were killed outright, often times in gas chambers. Thus are they really all that different as both are responsible for massacring human lives, one simply did so on a battlefield and the other did so in an office. Both men were wrapped up in what seemed…

Statement of intent: Written Text essay - Story I am going to write a text analysis essay for the story All Quiet on the Western Front. My chosen essay topic is how you were positioned as a reader to think a certain way about an issue or issues by the creator of the written text. I need to show my understanding of how the main idea of how the reader is positioned to think of the war in a negative way is presented in the story through the use of the theme underlying of the Brutality of War, the psychological impact the war has directly in Paul, the 'kill or be killed' way of thinking in Paul, and the horrific way the horses are left to suffer. I will refer to specific quotations and incidents in the story to support my analysis. I will also comment on the writer Erich Maria Remarque’s intentions…

Humanity, nowadays, cares nothing for others, only for themselves due to their mentality that is to see only what influences them and believe it is the truth. Elie Wiesel once declared, “When human lives are endangered, when humans dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Where men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place- at that moment- become the center of the universe.” Today I am not responding as a student knowledgeable to the unfortunate events, but as a young person of the twenty-first century, Elie Wiesel is indeed correct.…
