Good Hair Day Patrice Analysis

In the short story Good Hair Day Patrice says, “If you shoot for the ideal and expect nothing less, you are setting yourself up for a very frustrating and bitter life.” In regards to relationships and life, I agree with this statement. At one point in our life, a majority of us hoped to meet and marry our ideal husband/wife and live the lifestyle we 've envisioned for ourselves. As important is to create and have those dreams and setting standards, it is also crucial to stay grounded and realistic. That doesn 't mean giving up on goals and the standards that you have set and settling for the very least in life; however, reflect upon those expectations and question if you’re expecting too much. It is critical for our well-being to accept the imperfections in life and be satisfied with the blessings received. For example, numerous times in a relationship a person can have unrealistically high expectation. Such as wanting the person to have a certain salary average, expecting an expensive gift, hoping for the first date, wedding or honeymoon to be a certain way, etc. If the person builds up their ideal too large, the disappointment of not having it exactly as they wanted will lead to unhappiness. …show more content…
Another example is regarding life; we may have wanted to be a judge, but only accomplished becoming a lawyer. The thought of only wanting that goal and taking no less will make you feel unsatisfied with the current position and began to hate the way life turned out. Through over idolizing on a particular relationship and lifestyle; dissatisfaction, misery, and bitterness will grow in our hearts and infects the mind when life doesn 't turn out as planned. A person becomes blinded by what they don 't have that they lose sight of the incredible blessings in front of them. It’s crucial to remember that life doesn 't always go as planned and to appreciate life’s blessings.

In the short story Love Campaign, we are introduced to a young adult named Tanya and a grown man named Kevin. Despite the ten year difference in their age and the fact that Kevin is engaged, Tanya falls in love with Kevin’s charming and persuasive personality. After several failed attempts at seducing him, Kevin gives into having a secret relationship with her during the campaign period, acutely aware that it was only temporary and that feeling of hurt would surface at the end. Giving their difference in age, experience, and the situations; Kevin should have taken responsibility to prevent the relationship. The first reason is that of their age difference and her inexperience. Although technically an adult, Tanya is far too young to handle the mental after-effects this relationship will bring. She way has convinced him otherwise, but we learn in the end through her inability to eat for a while and extreme weight loss how depressed this had left her. My second reason is the fact that he is engaged. He and his fiancé may have had an on and off relationship for numerous of years, but all that should have ended with the engagement. He loves his fiancé, and he knew that Tanya loved him. Allowing her feeling for him to grow while he fulfills the lustful desires he had for her was wrong. I cannot deny that this whole situation is mostly Tanya’s fault. She used various methods
