For reimbursement as well as to measure patient progress it is important for physical therapist to write goals including short term and long-term goals. My first short term goal was the “Pt will be able to sit on edge of mat with no assistance for 2 minutes 3/5 times in 3 weeks to help with toileting.” It is important for this patient to be able to be independent in sitting and one of the main tasks we do seated is toileting. By giving this patient independence in this task he will be able to get closer to staying at home by himself and returning to his prior level of function. The second goal I chose was the “Pt will increase AROM in L knee by 10 degrees in 3 weeks to help with ambulation and climbing stairs.”…
Special education law as well as many other laws in which we function through at times can present terms that bring to question their intent and/or meaning. Chapter 2 titled “IDEA Terminology” attempts to provide the reader a clarification of 19 key terms that are listed in Section 504 and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004. The focus is interpreting the terms within law that Congress proposed as well as the presentation of court cases that further support the definitions presented. The content presented within the chapter that focused on proving educational benefit provided insightful information. From my fieldwork hours I have gained an understanding that IEP goals must be measurable however I was not aware of the factors that you need to consider in developing these goals to ensure the IEP is providing meaningful educational benefit to the student.…

Life is Not That Easy In the book “The Achievement Habit” by Roth, Bernard, the theme of chapter two “Reasons are Bullshit” is do not use reasons to justify someone 's behavior. The main point is to stop using reasons to get out of certain situations and to stop making those certain actions seem reasonable. Roth’s rhetorical appeals and arguments are effective because he explains how reason are simply excuses to hide what people 's priorities really are. Roth backs up his argument using Aristotle’s’ Ethos, Pathos, and Logos.…
In my hopeful future line of work as a social worker in policy, I will be working not only with adults but on behalf of children as well. In my future profession, and in any job being held in my life, it is imperative that I create good working relationships in order to create policy efficiently and effectively. Skills such as Assessment and Goal Setting are great tools to use in an office environment. The staff will be able to be assessed as to find their problem areas in work and use those to create change. For example, this would be critical in order to help evaluate staff for a salary raise or promotions.…
I am at Lafayette High School for my field placement with one social worker for the entire school body of about 3,000 students. She does a lot of independent work that doesn’t involve any group work with any other faculty. Since she is the only social worker for the entire school she can become overwhelmed with trying to meet with all the students that may need support. She does her best to reach every student sent to her office but it is impossible for one person to give the proper care necessary for students to be successful at school so she has to reach out to outside community agencies.…
When I first read the title of the movie, I did not think that it was going to be about Alzheimer disease. “Still Alice” appears to be a positive movie title. Consequently, I thought that the movie would be based on something positive. While I watched the movie, I learned that the character is facing the hardship of a rare disease (familial Alzheimer’s disease). The biggest question if whether the character is still Alice because of the changes that she is going through with her disease.…
