Vision:
They don't have eyelids to close and their vision is not good.
They do sleep though, rather going into a type of hybernation stage for short periods.

Eating:
Goldfish are Omnivores and will basically eat anything, from vegetables to meat. They have small teeth in their mouth, but food is processed largely by teeth plates in the back of their throat.

Sociability:
Goldfish are not aggressive fish and tend to form schools.
It is commonly seen that they eat their own eggs and offspring.

Lifespan:
Records exist of goldfish living for more than 40 years. A lifespan of 10-20 years is not uncommon under the correct conditions.

Growth and Size:
Specimens up to 30cm (12inches) long and weighing 4.5kg (10lb) have already been noted. Goldfish can normally reach a length of 20-25cm (8-10inches) at 5-6 years of age in a size tank that allows this, and with the proper care.

Worldwide and found in aquariums, ornamental pools and natural waters.

They have a memory-span of at least three months and can distinguish between different shapes, colors and sounds.
