To any onlooking passersby, the young couple sitting on a bench in Golden Gate Park would have seemed to be leading a pleasant, normal life. Blue and red flashing lights greeted Ellie as she gazed down on the crime scene. It had been a huge risk, especially with so many witnesses, but she knew that this time would be successful.
The realization of what she had done finally sunk in. It was not the first time she had killed someone, but this time felt different.
January 1, 2016 Ellie glanced down at the morning paper. The front page headline read “Murder in the Park”. A picture of a body sprawled across the grass stabbed at her heart. Ellie’s phone buzzed in her pocket. Taking it out, she looked at the caller ID. The number was one she did not recognize. Curious, but also a little nervous, she answered the call. “Hello?”
