I had the opportunity to take the Go Culture Assessment, which was prepared by Dr. Carly, H. Dodd. After taking the survey, I found out so many interesting aspects of my social and flexibility skills. What made this survey extremely valuable to me, was the fact that, I am going to the Island of Trinidad and Tobago and this survey thought me a lot. I got to see my strengths, and weaknesses when it comes to being diverse cultural person. The survey had a numerous amount of questions that addressed many different aspects of cultural awareness. Some of the questions that were asked, made me think out of the box, and also helped me have a better understanding of what I was comfortable, and uncomfortable with.
According to Carly, H. Dodd. The Go Cultural Assessment states that I had low a score of 70% in Social Inclusion. “Social Inclusion: Inclination to cooperate and welcome people from diverse environments even when their technical skills, language, or social background seem lower than yours. “High scores embrace an optimistic view while low scores project future grief or undue concerns. The reasons relate to previous negative experiences, personal stress, or anticipated organizational stress about the relocation. Skill development centers on identifying how and what you are expected to do once you relocate, on realistic assessment of the challenges. It helps to talk with others with a similar move, to project positive outcomes, and to sort the change process into manageable steps with enough time” (Dodd, 2016). Based off of what causes the decrease in relocation motivation such as “negative experiences, personal stress, or anticipated organizational stress”. In order to strengthen my relocation motivation, I would have to not pass judgment on present places because of past experiences. Also, my mind, body and soul would have to be refreshed and ready to take on
