Global Warming Persuasive Essay

Imagine a polar bear, sitting on the edge of the ice. He’s at the northernmost point of the earth, with family behind him. They are in sight, as the father bear makes his way across the slippery frozen wasteland. Suddenly, the ice fractures. The arctic animal floats away on an iceberg into nothingness, to never see his family ever again. Do you want this to happen to a hopeless, innocent animal? Well, it’s already happening which is why global warming is a serious issue and needs to be dealt with by countries with power. It’s dangerous to us, it’s unhealthy, and can potentially kill off most of the polar life. First of all, the melting ice in the antarctic ice caps is very dangerous. Some of these poisons are carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and carbon tetrachloride. All three of these gases, we cannot breathe. Yet we are still filling our atmosphere with these toxins, because we are materialistic people. Humans are very egocentric, and do not care about anyone else but themselves, unless they are in immediate danger. Have you seen Beijing in 2005? The entire city was blanketed in a thick smog. The people of Beijing were in an economic boom, with their stock market at the highest price in 40 years. The down side, they were damaging their atmosphere with smog. The situation became so intense that people were forced to wear surgical masks every time they walked out on the streets. People can argue that China has cut back on their coal-powered plants, 103 of them to be exact, but that still doesn’t negate the fact that China still has over 300 coal-powered plants operating to this day. There are pictures and video evidence of the smog clouds over Beijing, and to be honest, this is very scary. No one can imagine what living there is
