One of the morals in,"The Gift of The Magi," is sacrificing money. Both of the characters are a husband and wife and they live in poverty. In the short story, "The Gift of The Magi," Della does everything for Jim. She sacrifices all of her love and possessions for Jim by cutting off her hair and purchasing Jim a present because she loves him more than she loves her hair. Della says," I had my hair cut off and sold it because I couldn't have lived through Christmas without giving you a present." (Page4.) Much like Della does for him, Jim does everything in his life for Della. He uses all his money, time, and effort for Della because he loves her. Both Della and Jim love each other very much and that's why they give up everything they own to make each other happy. They love each other with all the love that each of them posses. This is why this story's major themes are love and
