These Hawaiian Islands have been inhabited for centuries before the first ships sailed across the Pacific. Hawaiian Islands have been shrouded in mystery since their history had been passed along vocally for centuries. Hawaiian culture hasn’t changed drastically ever since they inhabited the islands, until European and American explorers discovered the islands. This pair interested me the most because both nations have two completely different identities, but the Hawaiian Islands later become part of the United States. These nations have completely different history, religion, clothing, culture, and many more.…
Spreading along the east and gulf coast of the United States of America are unique geologic formations known as barrier islands. Not only are these landforms neat to visit, but also they have the important role of protecting the coastline by reducing the effects storm winds and waves can have. Barrier Islands, like Assateague Island, can form in different ways, but all are constantly undergoing changes from various factors. The focus of this paper will be how barrier islands form and move, these islands’ importance, and the vulnerability of Assateague Island. First, a simple definition provided in the Merriam- Webster dictionary of a barrier island is “a long broad sandy island lying parallel to a shore that is built up by the action of waves,…
In the age of the Ancients, a sun rises over a vast civilization, found in the lower Nile Valley. Its geography consists of a rugged, unfertile desert, with glimpses of green, which grace either side of the Nile river. This location harbored a civilization, a third dynasty, which changed the course of history through its many technological advancements in mathematics, astronomy, and medicine. Djoser, the first king of the “Old kingdom,” headed these technological advancements sometime between 2691 and 2625 BC by commencing the construction of the first pyramids, the step pyramid (Fichner-Rathus). This can be contributed to Djoser’s obsession with the afterlife and his need to leave an everlasting mark on history.…

The Ziggurat and the pyramids There are many similarities and differences between Ancient Egyptian Pyramids and Mesopotamian ziggurats. Ancient Egypt has contributed a variety of things ranging from, architecture, art deco, astronomy, astrology, and time to women’s liberation. Architecture is the most obvious one considering the pyramids and the fact that the complex design of the Kufu’s Pyramid is still undiscovered. They found them to be correlated because their calendar lined up with celestial events and observations.…

It appears as though the head is disproportionate to the body.…
