Overall my experience with reading has been forced, and limited and has lost its original glamour. For me what reading novels brings to other people, I can obtain through other means that are more appealing for my way of thinking. While I don’t enjoy the act of reading a 600 page mandatory novel, I do enjoy the conversations that it can cause. Such as the debating, and sometimes the arguments, that come from the material within the carefully thought out cover pages can be intriguing and rewarding. However, to say that books have influenced my thoughts about the world, or have made…
It enables you to think for yourself and think with importance, on a philosophical level. In Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag transitions from being another shallow citizen to someone who knows how to think, someone who acknowledges the world around them and doesn’t live in denial. In the real world, in a society where reading is valued, we read for leisure or for a school assignment or because somebody told us to, but we still read to gain knowledge, and to expand our minds and become deeper and/or better…
Art and literature are the foundation of life. Long before Netflix and social media existed, people used books to entertain themselves. Mason Cooley said “reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”. Even in 21st century, the age of technology, people use books as a source of entertainment and writing as a form of self-expression. Books and reading in general has many benefits like mental stimulation, gaining knowledge and much more.…
This is why they say that they are more than words and paper, because books have meaning. The meaning can give them a lesson or a different perspective on things in life. The article, “Why are books important”, concludes that, “Books are important for several reasons: they allow children and adults to learn and understand the alphabet, achieve a minimal standard of literacy and help people understand their roles in society. Some books have characters that people can easily relate to, which allows them to gain a better understanding of their own emotions, including happiness, sorrow, anger and pleasure. Some books contain stories and information on areas that people are not familiar with, such as the sciences or a certain region of the world; reading literature on these elements allows people to have a better understanding of and appreciation for those topics.”…
I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. I remember hiding under my covers with a flashlight just to finish a good book. Literature enthralls me, and by the power that the words have on one’s imagination and emotions. Literature captivates the potential to evoke one’s imagination and inspire creativity in anyone who starts to breathe in the precious words. Maya Angelou has the perfect quote to summarize how I feel about the power of literature and reading, “When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature.…
I have come across many people in my life and few have made such an impact on my life as my best friend has. When I sit and reminisce about the previous years of my life, I can hardly believe how I survived without my best friend. Candyce Martin has been by my side for five years now and hopefully for many years to come. She is such an extraordinary person with an extremely active imagination that is contagious. Candyce is my best friend for infinite reasons, but the three that stood out to me the most is her unique personality, responsible ways, and dependability in any situation.…

Who Am I as a Reader I am not person who likes to read a lot, only when it comes to school reading, then I will do it. A New World Imagine what your life would be like if you didn’t have the capability to read or write. For me, life would be quite dull, and a harsh reality. Reading is my escape. Lastly, reading connects me with the world around me, which helps me to make connections, gaining a better understanding and find meaning to the story. Stories are told in countless ways. A spider can tell a story from the web she creates; just by watching the spider weave her web, the species of the spider is shown by the design and steps she takes to shape the web, like learning the personality of a character by reading about his story. Watching her web unfold, unveils mystery and completing missing parts that eventually become a magnificent piece of art like a plot of a book has its introduction, conflict, climax, and resolution that make the reader interested. Almost every story has a main character that the story focuses on that shows more about the character as the story progresses.…
Reading also helps your grammar, sentence structure and more. Reading has many benefits for writers. But these aren't "the secret reason" why writers are avid readers. The secret reason why writers are avid readers is because they need to constantly replace the worlds they put on paper with others. Sounds incredulous, right?…

“How does reading make us more Human”? (makes us more aware of what's going on around us) I believe reading makes us more human because it makes us more aware. More aware of what's going on around in the world around us, and makes some people look at the world differently. I think any piece of reading can open your eyes up to new things making you more aware of the opportunities this world may have to offer.…
