George Mason University’s capstone class is pleased to submit this proposal to provide research assistance in identifying the ideal methods of gathering patients’ insurance information for billing purposes, to be used in your revenue cycle management project. We understand the important contribution Specialists on Call (SOC) is making in the Telemedicine industry. George Mason University’s Capstone class would be honored for the opportunity to develop short and long term methodologies.

OUR UNDERSATNDING OF THE SITUATION.

Specialists on Call is an organization based in Northern Virginia that offers telemedicine services nationwide and was founded in 2004 by a group of physicians. To lower their expenses contracted hospitals discussed the opportunity of billing third party payers to lower their services expenses. Contracted hospitals have reached out to SOC and requested their billing rights to start billing third party payers on behalf of SOC. SOC elected to choose a different approach due increased level of risks and liabilities surrounding this approach on the organization and employed physicians as they share responsibility for the accuracy of the claims submitted for payment on their behalf. SOC is initiating a revenue cycle management program that will involve billing third party payers. Since in the past SOC has been billing hospitals only patients demographic and insurance information has never been collected and is a crucial fragment of executing the project. By completing the project SOC will benefit from: 1- Client retention 2- Increase sales 3- Differentiating SOC from other Telemedicine
