Humans are not evenly dispersed across the Earth’s surface. Geographers look for clues to why people live in some parts more than others. For example, in Japan much of the population is overcrowded in the flat part because of the mountainous terrain. Another study geographers look at is human migration, the movement from one place to another. Possible reasons people might migrate is because they want better work opportunities, leaving a place that destroyed by a war, or maybe wanting to go somewhere with milder climates. Geographers look for patterns of living areas. They look for ways religion, food, arts, and customs vary across the globe. Another part of human geography is economic and political systems of different regions. People all over the globe have to meet their needs of food and shelter. For an organized society they need a political system to decide how they might want to use their natural resources. Geographers study the ways government and economic systems meet the needs of the people. Regions play another important role in the world of …show more content…
Geographers spit the world into different regions so they can study a small amount of a region instead a larger amount of land. Looking at separate regions geographers can look at patterns and analyze information both inside a particular region and from one region to another. Physical regions are described by having similar landforms or other physical characteristics. Places in a similar region or are close to each other, share much of the same physical characteristics, such as mountains, similar forests, and close to the same climates. For example, Waukesha has similar landforms and climate as Pewaukee and Milwaukee. Cultural regions are defined by human characteristics. Cultures are common characteristics among an association of people. These people share cultures might eat similar foods, speak the same language, have close to the same customs, share religious beliefs, or create similar pieces of art. Additionally, when people move around the globe their culture goes with them and they bring the some of the culture to another part of the world. For an example, someone from Africa has different customs and ways of living than people living in Europe. If they moved to Europe from Africa them they might bring their religion, customs, and/or foods they eat. Many different characteristics can define a region, there are many different ways to divide individual countries and the world as a whole into
