1. Define the term forest environment. Forests are an ecosystem that predominately consists of trees and provide habitats for many different animals. The trees found in forests are also a vital element in environments.
2. Identify two different types of forest environments. Two different types of forest environments are Tropical Rainforests and Coniferous Forests. Tropical Rainforests are typically dense and are located near the equator. Whereas, Coniferous Forests are located near the two poles and is usually in a snowy environment.

Outline how the biophysical processes (e.g. food chains and food webs) maintain the function survival of the Australian forest you have chosen. The Biophysical processes, specifically biosphere and hydrosphere, help in maintaining the survival and function of the Daintree Rainforest. The biosphere involves all living things of earth, usually focusing on flora and fauna. The Daintree Rainforest is accustomed to over 3,000 plant species and many species such as marsupials and reptiles. This correlates with Food Chains and Food Webs, which organises how all animals maintain their lives by showing what they eat and who eats them, highlighting the importance when maintaining the Daintree Rainforest. If this is affected it will create a chain reaction causing many plants and animals to become endangered, leading to a possible extinction. The Daintree Rainforest also revolves around the hydrosphere. The hydrosphere involves water in all its forms, which includes rain and vapour. The Daintree rainforest sustains itself by absorbing water to help with plant growth and sustaining their trees. The Daintree also relies on water for its high levels of precipitation to adjust for the humid
