Genetically Modified Crops: Good Or Bad?

Genetically modified grains have good things about them, but they also have bad things. These modified grains give farmers and the environment help. For the farmers it is cheaper to grow and it's more reliable for harvest. For the environment there is no soil erosion, but there is a new gene coming into the environment. These modified grains like corn, wheat, rice, and soy have stronger colors and have better life on the shelf. The genetically modified grains are better for farming, but some things in the modified grains are not good for humans. When farming GM crops (grains), it makes it easier to grow and maintain. The GM crops have more of a reliable harvest than the regular crops. Due to farmers spraying liquid nitrogen fertiliser before planting, which burns off all the weeds before planting. Farmers also spray other chemicals when planting, because it helps the plant be health and weed free. This is saying that GM crops are easier to take care of then just regular crops. For the farmers it is cheaper to grow GM crops then non-GM crops. Genetically modified seeds are a little bit more expensive than the non-GM seeds. The GM seeds, take less money to grow, because they do not need fertilizer, as much water, or good soil to grow. The farmers do not need to do as much work, so the farmers like these GM crops. Controlling weeds can be very hard and a concern to farmers. Farmers use herbicides to control weeds and other pesticides, concerns that there could be these chemicals found on the produce at the grocery store. GM seeds (crops) have been modified to manage and control these weeds in the fields. What is cool about this is the farmer can spray the whole field and only the weeds will die, the crop will keep growing.
