Genetic therapy and engineering use genes from the patient to rehabilitate the body from disorders like sickle cell anemia. In my high school biology class, my teacher briefly touched on the subject that one day gene therapy might be able to completely eradicate genetic disorders. Since then genetic therapy has fascinated me on how the human body is able to use itself to cure its own disorders. Some believe that it is not morally correct to change the genetic makeup of their children and they should just let God decide what happens. But God has given us the science to better the lives of our children by not making them or their parents suffer through a life changing genetic disorder such as muscular dystrophy which would last a life time with no cure.
