Genesis Twenty-Four
In this paper, I will use modern day terms and words to describe what happen in Genesis chapter twenty-four. Isaac and Rebekah
By this time in the story, Abraham has been extremely blessed by the Lord and very old. After Sarah (Abraham’s wife and Isaac’s mother) died, Abraham brings one of his trusted servant to him, and has the servant swear that he will find a wife for Isaac. Not just any woman will do. She must from the land where I came from one of my own family, not from where we are living now. He did not want Isaac to take a foreign wife. Abraham wanted to keep the bloodline pure.
The servant was to go, find a woman, and bring her back to land they were living in. The servant was unsure and asked what if the woman

She did and offered to water his camels until they were full. The servant then gives a gold nose ring and bracelets, asking whose daughter was she. She lets him know who she was.
The servant then praise God, for God has answered his prayer and brought the woman to him that would be Isaac’s wife. She was from Abraham’s family as he had requested.
Rebekah then ran home and told her family what had happened. Her brother Laban came out to talk to the servant of Abraham. Laban then invites the servant to their home. There the servant tells them the story of how he came to be there at and what he came for.
After going over everything that happen, Laban and his mother said this was God’s plan and they would not interfere. If Rebekah is to be Isaac’s wife then so be it.
So then, the servant brought all the gifts that Abraham sent along with him and gave them to Rebekah, Laban and their mother. They ate, drank, and spent the night.
Next morning the servant was ready to go. However, Laban and his mother wanted him to wait ten days before leaving. The servant did not want to wait, so they asked Rebekah if she was ready to go now. She answered yes; yes, I am ready to go

Abraham is an ancestor of nearly every single one of the other important characters; He is father to Isaac, grandfather to Jacob and Esau, and he is the great Grandfather of the Twelve tribes of Israel. Abraham’s covenant with God is why these people were alive. God told Abraham “I will make you extremely fertile; I will make nations of you” (Genesis 17:6). Because of this covenant, all of Abraham’s descendants could be born and live comfortable lives. In nearly every story of Genesis, the conflict is between two or more family members, but in the end, people are forgiven and family prevails.…

Prayer opens doors for God to act and work. The scripture I have chosen is 1 Samuel 1:10-11 to prove my statement. It reads as follows; “and she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord, and she wept bitterly. And she vowed a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your hand maid and remember me and not forget your hand maid, but will give unto her a male child, then I will give him unto you all the days of his life and there no razor come upon his head.”…

Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, is portrayed as powerful. In the Bible she is deceiving her husband to get Jacob the blessing instead of Esau. She overheard Isaac, promise to bless Esau, so then Rebekah told Jacob, "Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you" (Genesis 27:8). Rebekah told Jacob to impersonate his brother to their blind father, "So that he may give you his blessing before he dies" (Genesis 27:10). This is the first time we see Rebekah taking control of what will happen.…

Both ladies believed in their religion, and believed in the life that was built around the love of the one and only God and creator. The Sacrifice of Isaac and its Relevance “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you. ”(Genesis 22:2) Upon reading this verse, a reader might ask themselves “Why would God command Abraham to do such a horrible thing?” Especially after He had kept to his word and blessed Sarah with this miracle pregnancy, just a chapter before? I believe the answer is embedded in the notion that God didn’t command Abraham to do this in a negative sense, it was merely a test of faith.…

In the beginning of the Jacob and Esau story, Rebekah evidently favors her younger son Jacob over her eldest Esau. As the two sons grow older, Rebekah wants only the best for her son Jacob so she creates a plan to ensure that Jacob receives the blessing from her husband, Isaac, instead of Esau. This is where Rebekah emerges as a trickster and appears to have more influence over the plot than Andromache does. Her role as the schemer and the behaviors that the role entails is what aids in further plot development. For example, after this moment of deceit, Esau is enraged and Rebekah says to Jacob “Obey my voice; flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran”…
