Genesis 1:26-27 states that humans are made in God’s own image, but this is not in the physical sense because God is spirit. To make humans even more unique, their existence began through the breath of God (Genesis 2:7). In addition, humans are able to share certain communicable attributes with God such as love, peace, mercy, justice, and many others. The implications of humanity’s uniqueness are huge in regards to the purpose of people on the earth. Without these defining qualities, they would not be any different from an animal. Humans are created to possess three parts: body, soul, and spirit. The soul and spirit are often combined but there is a distinction made in Scripture and therefore, I believe in this distinction. 1 Thessalonians
