In other words, as God’s representative and the father of nations, God demands Abraham to live a righteous life. Moreover, God expected Abraham to be an example and teach others the ways of the God. Psalm 145 v. 4 says, “One generation shall laud your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts”. Therefore, God decided to share His plans for Sodom with Abraham. I believe that God was testing Abraham’s ability to make righteous judgments.
While God shared His plans to investigate the outcry of Sodom, His Company continued their journey. Although God knew that the city of Sodom was wicked, God is just and He will always give us the benefit of the doubt. In other words, God loves us and He will not judge us before verifying the evidence against us vv. 20-21. Although God did not say He would destroy Sodom if the evidence were true, Abraham assumed that He would not.
