Recent technological advancements have benefited our world in ways that could've only been imagined just 50 years ago. Not only is it reliable, it's also practical and allows people to connect with friends and family thousands of miles away. Technology has also proven to be useful in the classroom. Information is now just seconds away. However, technology has many downfalls. Technology is good for conveying information or exchanging news, however this impacts the user negatively when it comes to face to face conversations. The overuse of interpersonal devices such as iPads, smartphones, and online-based apps work to inhibit cognitive behaviors and face-to-face communication in society.

Not even fifteen years ago, phone numbers and street addresses could be recalled at the drop of a hat. With recent technological advances, such information can be found within seconds with little to no taxation on the brain. In spite of this seemingly effortless way of doing things general health issues have come to light as an effect. Physical ailment and under-development in various different forms can occur from the over use of technology. Parents become more and more immersed in technology and become detached to their children as a side effect. Studies have shown that when TV's, cell phones, and mobile devices among others are in use, parents and children converse 90% less (Is Social Media Sabotaging Real Communication). This can lead to speech problems as well as create a dependency on technology as this becomes the social norm. Addictive behavior can also be seen through the dependency of technology. Tablets, smartphones, and wearable technologies are becoming part of today's modern family .
