Gender Stereotypes In Iraq

The idea that I want to explore is capturing people emotions regarding a certain subject even if they are far physically away and how can they relate to it. I will be taking pictures of people who will be at the candle night that is happening for the victims of the terrorist attack that happened on july 3, 2016 in Baghdad. I want to see how people will gather and pray for people that they may know or may not know. I’m sure that I will meet people who lost a family member or a friend in this last explosion. And I’m also sure that I will meet people who have nothing to do with the explosion but they are from Baghdad or at least they know someone from there. My goal is to show who have lost someone and haven’t. I want to see what people think when they look at the images, and how they’re going to determine who have lost a friend or a relative and who have not. My Main goal is not show that Iraq was a better country before the invation because this is obvious now after all of what happened since 2003. What I want to show is how we, Iraqis, care for each other and do not really care about religion or background. I want to show how Christians love Muslims and vice versa. …show more content…
I know that my title is very vague but I always like to use vague titles and not spoil the story from the title. I like when the viewer look at the images and then deside what is the series or the work about. Moving on the technical side, I will be using my Canon 6D with my 24-105mm lens and possibly a 70-200mm lens because I want to get close up shot on candels, faces, flages, scarfes, etc. I will be using ambient light so I have to go between 3200 and 6400 ISO. I might use a tripod or a mono pod just so I can take my shutter speed a stop slower so I can lower my ISO to get richer tones and less

We have to step up as women and take the lead”- Beyonce Our actions should speak louder than what others think, therefore we need to take a step forward and let ourselves be heard. With this course coming to an end, I can absolutely say, these journal entries helped me not be as oblivious to my everyday encounters. A lot of things are revealed throughout my journaling, but two major things are: I always found myself thinking about gender stereotypes and the difference between Iowa and California social inequality. Although racial issues are a problem, I didn’t directly experience or see any. The only unsettling things I observed were like how a mall was mostly full of blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, whereas a church was full of all white people.…

The contrast of both parties is the different lifestyles that are portrayed by the poet. The poet uses imagery to describe the two characters. As women, we have consistently been told through ads and society that we are not as powerful as males. Ads that deal with the environments of work, business, and engineering have usually only portrayed males as focal points. This occurrence has caused women to be viewed and feel like the “less important” of the two genders, especially in economic status. However, in modern day, ads are being made to portray women as powerful individuals. Ads like the ones produced by Girl Scouts of America and Bissell encourage women to embrace their given qualities and break free from the thought that they (women) have less power; using components like text, images, and colors the ads convey each company’s activities/product as empowering for women and remind…

Sexism has sadly become prevalent with all ages in today 's society. It is common for parents to react to the stereotypical behaviors of their developing children, or for teachers to have biases for one gender over the other gender. Often children are taught through example or media, that moms are expected to stay at home and cook, while dads go to work and make money for the family. This traditional viewpoint may have been due to evolution or even how animals provide for their families, such as a mother bird staying with the babies and keeping them warm in the nest, while the father goes to gather food for the babies. Compared to a few decades ago, equality among genders has become more expected in formal situations.…

Looking back at my childhood now, I realized that my parents taught me quite a bit about how males and females should look and behave. Whenever I would go to a park with my sisters, my mother would always tell us to not play like the boys since they played “not nicely.” According to my mother, girls know how to play nicely and share, not boys. Whenever I would play in my soccer games, both my mother and father would tell me to be careful around the male players since they were stronger and bigger than me. According to my mother, girls were the ones who showed their emotions and not boys.…

What is a stereotype? A stereotype is a standardised image of what someone should be like based on certain traits that person possesses. People will stereotype you no matter what, because they are stereotyped into the same ‘area’ and think you shouldn’t stray from the social ‘norms’. Or because they have been brought up to think people should be a certain way that they have seen their whole life.…

When I was in early childhood, I was addicted to the color pink. I still have a funny photo in which I am giggling wearing a pink t-shirt, pink pants, a pink backpack and pink sneakers. I might have thought that pink is girls’ color and I am a girl, so I should choose pink not sky blue. Like this, in early childhood, children have their own gender identity and construct a gender stereotype based on environmental information. This gender stereotype causes them to build gender roles.…

How a woman is perceived is something that is prevalent in our society today and a good portion of how she is perceived has to do with how the woman is dressed. Women spend many moments every day contemplating what they are going to adorn for the activities they have planned; some women put on many different outfits in the same day for the various social occasions they are attending. A main concern when choosing an outfit surrounds the notion of what a stranger, they have not met yet, is going to think about the outfit that is chosen. “Studies have shown that the way a person dresses influences impressions of her personality, credibility, attractiveness, sociability, compliance, charitable/giving behavior, and power/status” (Turner-Bowker,…
