Gender roles are the combination of attitudes, behaviors, and personality characteristics that a culture considers appropriate for an individual’s anatomical sex. Psychologists have proposed a number of theories to explain gender typing (LeFrancois, 2012).Further, gender roles are the behaviors and characteristics that define masculinity and femininity. Gender schemas are children's knowledge about gender roles. Gender typing is the learning of sex-appropriate behavior.(LeFrancois, 2012).

Our reading states that for this theory once a child understands gender identity they actively shape themselves, those around them and their environment their belief of how male/females act. In the video, the young lady learned that girls should dress cute and that girl is ³rst for everything. The female then shaped her thoughts and actions to that theory and became a bully to those around her because she should have been first always. She fit her world to the idea of how a proper young lady is treated
The Ladies First video, is about a girl that says “Ladies First”. She considers herself as a lady because she dresses pretty. She states that she wears a dress with ribbons, perfume behind her ears, clean socks, and shiny black shoes. She thinks just because she is a lady that she should come first in everything. She also bullies everyone around her because she believed that she is a lady and she should always be first. One of the theories states that once a child understands their gender identity they actively shape themselves, and for those of them that are around
