That is incorrect. Power structures create identities like white, male, cisgender, and straight for the purpose of exploitation. Identities like “whiteness” would not exist if white supremacy did not exist, because white supremacy created the identity of “whiteness” in the first place. In order for white supremacy to create an identity like “white”, it had to create justification (biological essentialism) for why some people belong in that category and why others don’t.
The belief that “man” or “cisgender” have some kind of basis in scientific truth was created by those power structures. Liberal feminism does not challenge this essentialism. It says “it’s wrong men treat women this way” instead of addressing the core issue and saying “masculinity/maleness is a violent construct in itself.
