Josephus Jimenez, the creation of more and more pro-women labor laws may backfire to the women’s sector. For him, employers might find it burdensome to hire or employ female employees, since they are required to comply and provide the benefits as mandated by the labor laws. In addition, he thinks that the amount of pro-women labor laws in legislation is too much and it is has become biased for male employees. In the “Gender Issues and Pro Women Labor Laws in the Work Place” opinion piece by Atty. Josephus Jimenez, Atty. Jimenez thinks pro-women advocates should stop pushing pro-women labor laws through legislation. Jimenez then talked about the protection of women personnel from any form of discrimination. He talks about how this law gives too much protection to women to the extent of patronizing them. Atty. Jimenez failed this part of the article by using an unfair argument even though he justified this support by stating that “[there] is no parallel legislation for male personnel” (Jimenez). This is an unfair argument, since the said legislation was intended to respond to women victims of discrimination. In addition, this has been a pattern because of the presence of gender inequality everywhere, due to the fact that most people look at women as the weaker sex.
