They found that there are significant sex differences when it comes to memory especially episodic memory. Their results showed that women were great in verbal episodic memory activities. These activities included remembering words, objects, pictures, and everyday events. However, men were better at remembering symbolic, non-linguistic information which is known as visuospatial processing. (ScienceDaily, 2008) The psychologists also found that most sex differences favored females when it comes to such things as remembering the placement of car keys. This task uses both verbal and visuospatial processing. (ScienceDaily, 2008) Psychologists Herlitz and Rehman’s perspective on gender differences expressed that women have the advantage over men when it comes to episodic memory. In my research and findings, I also found that women have an advantage over men in episodic memory. Herlitz and Rehman’s research did not mention anything about brain functioning between the genders and its …show more content…
Gender differences in memory is a complicated debate. When answering the question about gender differences in memory one would have to know in what situation is memory being evaluated. Also when answering the question about gender differences in memory one must keep in mind the three main parts of memory which are sensory, short-term, and long-term memory. When it comes to memory males have their advantages and women have their advantages but generally who has the better advantage is
