METHODOLOGY AND DATA COLLECTION
3.0 Introduction
The study methodology and procedures explains briefly the following components; research design, study area, target population, sampling techniques and sample size, methods of data collection and data analysis and the reasons that prompted to the choice of each component.
3.1 Type of study
The study is comparative study which focuses on factors that causes gender in equality in labor market in Tanzania
Study design
A study design is the arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in procedure. (Kothari, 2009)
The study used a case study design as a mode of investigation. The reasons …show more content…
Taking it as a study area, the study expected to study the participation of individuals in the Labor Market in Tanzania.
3.3 Target population
The study focused to individuals who are participants in Labor Market in Tanzania including male gender and female gender from different jobs industries.
The study has targeted the mentioned population due to the fact that it could be enabled to get the required data from different working environment and come out with the clear picture on the Gender in equality on Labor Market in Tanzania
3.4 Sampling techniques and sampling size
3.4.1 Sampling techniques
The study used non probability sampling techniques whereby quota sampling and purposive sampling techniques were employed.
Quota sampling was used because the targeted population could be divided into groups upon which the study selected units from each group to be included in the sample size.
Purposive sampling was used because the researcher could easily face some of the population units that can provide the required data and one becomes assured of what he or she is …show more content…
The methods used were interview and questionnaires.
3.5.1 Interview method
Is a face to face or through phone contact between interviewer and interviewee. (Kothari, 2004)
Interview was conducted to facilitate data collection and minimize biasness that could be encountered in other methods. This method was used because some participants in the population could not be easily met and the interviewer and decided to conduct telephone interview.
3.5.2 Questionnaires
These are series of questions written to be answered by the respondents. The questions may be close-ended or open ended. Closed questions are questions written and accompanied with multiple answers and the respondent has to choose one answer in responding to the questions. Also the questions may be open ended whereby respondents are given enough space to give out their views. (Kothari, 2004)
The study used Questionnaires especially close ended questions due to the presence of educated people in the targeted population and it takes less time in collecting data and becomes simple in analyzing the collected data upon use of close ended
