Ok your Gehazi, how would you feel when you lay the staff on the face of the woman’s son and nothing happens? Gehazi had seen Elisha perform several notable miracles, yet the power is not there for him to perform a miracle himself. Prophets this is past critical, and you must look at this and see this. Also look at the fact if Elisha gave him the staff, he had confidence in Gehazi that he could be a vessel of Glory needed for the miracle.
Gehazi was given the Prophet's staff, as a sign of authority, and commissioned to go straight to the dead boy and revive him. While we may feel that several things may have happened on his way there, the reality is that nothing happened, as he placed the staff on the child. What is going on and why? We need to understand this because what if you or I had been sent by a prophet to someone in dire distress and we were no help. We seem to constantly forget we are the spiritual specialists, the prophets. Elisha would not have sent Gehazi if he did not feel he could of handled the situation.
