Writer’s memo Gamete advertisements are becoming more popular these days. And within these advertisements lay issues about gender role, sexuality and morality. According to what Caroline Rubin wrote in the article The Gendered Language of Gamete 'Donation’ “the gifting rhetoric used to make gamete donation morally acceptable differs for egg donors versus sperm donors, from the advertisements used to recruit them, to the application process they must go through.” Based on this research, I conducted an advertisement that leans toward the difference represented in the gamete advertisements, such as mentioning the characteristics of the sperm donor that are hardly found in an egg donor advertisements. At the beginning, I did not want to attach a picture because I thought attaching it will not affect in conducting a deep argument. But while I was looking through the eggs donation advertisements I found that the pictures used there are different than the pictures used in the sperm donation advertisements, and it delivered a different meaning for each gamete donation. Sperm donation advertisements, add decorative cartoon images of sperm that usually include the amount of money the donor will get, and this demonstrates how they deal with men as eager sexual beings. And according to Caroline Rubin “Cartoons depicting the sexual rapacious of sperm donors are omnipresent, as is sperm donation-themed pornography.” This shows that pictures serve a gender and sexuality issues behind it. Also, it shows how the gifting idea here became an idea of exchanging something for something else. So I came to the conclusion of seeing that a picture will be a suitable convention to be added. Close enough, I had an inner conflict of the characteristic I want to provide in my advertisement especially the physical feature. In the advertisement, I mentioned that the person should be 5’9’’ tall. I thought deeply of which measures should I add, should I write 5’5’’ or 6’0’’, but after looking over other advertisements, I noticed that most of them mention a very specific measurement and I read articles about some donors that were not accepted because they were one inch under the requirements. Therefore, I ended up writing 5’9’’ because people would say that they are 6’0’’ tall if their measurement was 5’9’’ because it is so close to 6’0’’ and this contributed to the idea of the specific characteristic that the advertisements usually asks for. On the other hand, I was thinking of how to make this advertisement a reliable one. Since I am working on this advertisement
