In 1574, Galileo and his family moved to Florence, Italy. Here, he started going to school at Camaldolese monastery near Vallombrosa. After attending there for 9 years, he switched schools and started going to the University of Pisa. It was at this school that he started supporting the Aristotelian view of the world. This thought stated that the Earth was the center of the universe. Unfortunately, Galileo had to drop out of this university in 1585 because of financial issues. Although he wasn’t able to go to school, he continued his studies on his own.

This lasted from September of 1632 through July of 1633. During this time, he was threatened with torture until he finally stated that he supported the Copernican Theory, but secretly he still believed that the Sun was the center of the universe. At the end of the trial, Galileo Galilei was convicted of heresy and was placed under house arrested for the rest of his life. During this time, he wasn’t supposed to have any visitors and wasn’t supposed to publish any sort of writing. Once again, he ignored both of these regulations. Galileo published two books about his thought’s on the solar system. After his last book was published, he became blind and very sick. Galileo past away in Arcetri, Italy on January 8, 1642. Although he had to overcome many challenges in his life, Galileo Galilei created the path to understanding what we know now concerning modern physics and
