Galilei Force Theory

The invisible being that created the push or pull of an object has been a law of science since the early ages. The first scientists to study this entity was Ancient Greek scientists Archimedes. His theory is now referred to as Archimedes 's principle, or the law of fluid mechanics. It implies that there is force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether fully or partially submerged, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces. He hypothesized this theory while in the bath. Unfortunately his theory only covered fluid mechanics and didn’t elaborate completely on force. However he was one of the first scientists to discover buoyancy and the displacement of fluids. By 17th century Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei …show more content…
There are two main fractions of Force, each with their own subdivisions. The first division is Contracted forces which are forces that are a result of two interacting objects and are physically contacting each other. There are five types of contracted force; frictional force, tension, force, air resistance force, applied, force, and spring force. Frictional force occurs when two parallel object’s surfaces come into contact with one and another heading in a perpendicular direction. In english this means when two surfaces come in contact with one and other they create a friction. An example of this would be the movement of furniture. When you push a table across the floor, the surface of the table and floor are creating friction through your applied force. After is tension force, a force that passes through a string, rope, cable or wire when it is being pulled tight by forces acting from other ends. Tension force is commonly found in circuses, tight rope walkers apply a force to the rope which causes the opposite end of the rope to tighten. Next contract force is air resistance force otherwise known as drag force. It is a type of frictional force that acts upon objects as they travel through the air. A common example of this would be the sail of a sail boat. When the wind meets the sail,it resists the direction thus causing air resistance which in turn pushes the boat forward. Last of the contracted forces is Spring Force. Spring Force is force applied by a stretched spring upon any object that is

In this video olympic swimming athlete Bennet Clark demonstrates a race start with the help of his Cal swim team coach and the laws of physics! Clark’s dive can be related back to Newtons 1st law of motion. This law states that “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force” In this video the athlete is at rest when he is first on the starting block. He is being acted upon by normal force between him and the block.…

Static friction can be defined as the force that resists motion of an object to a surface so there motion is not relative to one another. The maximum static friction force (f_(s max)) is the maximum force applied to the block before it starts to move. After the maximum static friction has been reached the block starts to move and the friction is…

Isaac Newton through his laws of physics or “Newton’s Laws” set the stage for the Enlightenment also known as The Age of Reason, which occurred in the 17th and 18th century. If Newton was able to determine laws around planets there could be natural laws around how people behaved. These laws would be considered universal and through the Enlightenment period, the philosophers would attempt to discover them. Our society would not be what it is today if it wasn't for the ideas generated by four philosophers: John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft. They changed our society and formed the capitalist democratic world that we live in today.…

The airboat is related to Newton first law because since the boat is in the water it is in motion and it will remain in motion unless something stops it from being in motion it will be an unbalanced force. The second law is related to the airboat because the airboat is moving with a certain amount of force. Newton’s third law is related to the airboat because when the propeller is turned on it throws air behind the boat, the action creates an equip and opposite reaction pushing the boat forward.…

What forces that you have learned about in this course do you see in action? I learned about a few forces so far throughout this video. I learned about unbalanced forces by seeing how the dogs used an inclined plane. Once a dog goes up an incline, gravity will take place and the incline plane will be uneven. This leads to unbalanced forces.…

Weight, distance, and velocity have a lot to do with gravity. To start it off, the gravitational pull of a planet or the force exerted from the object is called weight. Weight is taken by the force of the object due to gravity. The object’s weight keeps it in the center due to the force that the earth has. After that the measurement from one point to another is called distance.…

Plato once said, “Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us from this world into another.” Obviously, astronomy has always been an interest to mankind. We look up into the night sky and feel an urge, something pulling us towards the stars. Many people have been influential in discoveries involving the stars and the planets beyond. From Galileo Galilei to Stephen Hawking, we have learned and discovered amazing things about the universe, and in recent discoveries we have wondered if we can go to another planet.…

NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION Water rockets have used many times to test and explore the fundamental principles of physics. To understand what determines how far a water rocket may fly or how a rocket may even lift off, it is important to delve into the deeper detail; the forces acting in play. Newtons Laws govern the central principles regarding the physical forces which may act on a particular object in space. There are three laws which were developed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1686, when he published his book Principia Mathematica Philosophiae Naturalis (NASA, 2015).…

Drag force is an aerodynamic force which acts parallel and opposite to the motion of the object when it moves through a fluid. It is caused by friction and differences in air pressure. There are many factors can affect the magnitude of drag force as with aircraft lift. The drag depends linearly on the shape and size of the object moving through the air.…
