His main career was in military service.
After the murder of Galba, Vespasian had as good as a claim to the throne as his two rivals, Otho and Vitellius.
He later had two sons, Titus and Domitian.
As he was turning ill, he still had his humor.
On his deathbed, he claimed that his ‘sons would succeed him, or no one would.’
