The future of truck driving will be driven by efficiency. Economically, the inefficiencies are related to scheduling/brokerage, energy consumption, and humans as a driver themselves. According to TechCrunch, “Shippers, brokers, and carriers all suffer from an extreme lack of modern technology. The entire industry is run on an archaic 15-year-old software, almost no data is captures, none of the software systems can communicate with each other.” It also noted that two-thirds of shippers don’t use any software at all. Relying solely on paper records, companies are putting themselves at risk for miscommunication, lost shipments and delayed delivery.
