Yes it’s not a traditional book one would read for a book report; however, I chose it because I do not really have interest in books that have no personal feeling and are just a general book about average people. This book was very personal and I felt like this helped Firoozeh get her point across better. I felt like I could connect with the little girl who moved to a brand new country at a young age. I felt like I was part of her journey as she went through her life. One thing I did not like about this book is sometimes it felt as if she was not really into the story she was telling. Form this book I learned about celebrations and traditions we have yet to talk about in class. One in particular is that before a couple gets married the father of the bride must be convinced that the groom and his family absolutely adore the bride and that they will welcome her gratefully into their family. From this book I also learned that Iranians come to America and are very willing to put up with the discrimination and absolute nonsensical way they are treated. This book made me feel happy that America could provide so much for people like Firoozeh and her family. It also made me angry that the way Iranians are portrayed to us is not who they really
