Fruit Valley Case Study

Decent Essays
Fruit Valley is the westernmost neighborhood in Vancouver. This neighborhood is known for the city’s largest number of remaining World War II housing. This area is a mixture of residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural farmland. The neighborhoods consist of small homes, similar in structure, apartments and low-income housing. The lots are small in comparison to other lots in the Vancouver area and seem to be less maintained. The West side of Fruit Valley Road appears to be in more disarray than the East side, in terms of unkept yards, broken windows and broke down cars. Several parks were noticed throughout the neighborhood, a community park, a county park and a few neighborhood parks which were occupied by numerous individuals.

This is subjective, as I am unable to estimate the square feet of the homes, because I lack the needed skills to do so. I can say with certainty that they are not mansions. The houses are well kept and as a norm are not in need of new paint, are not run down, nor are they brand new with perfectly cut lawns in the summer. Any swing sets would be in the back yards, but one can hardly see in the backyards of the majority of the houses from the street. There is no main street in Glen Gardner; there is a post office, a hotdog stand, and random car shops on the highway that splits Glen Gardner.…

No, I would not recommend Acai Berry as a method of weight loss for people to try. Even though there are many marketers out there that have a way with words, and are able to successfully promote this product, they should not always be trusted with what they are selling. Acai berries have been said to help with appetite suppression, which helps with the loss of excess weight, and also strengthen the immune system. The only truth that I could agree within this statement is that the fact that it builds the immune system. There are many myths that exist with Acai Berries and weight loss that people are just not aware of and are getting scammed in the process of it.…

Small Midwestern towns like Postville have become reliant on the income they receive from the meat packing factories that come because of large amounts of land, cheap workforce, and the fact they are closer livestock(Maggie Jones). Because America’s shift to industrialization and the high demand for inexpensive meat, small family farms were no longer viable, and many farmers lost their land (Nanda and wars 117). With the loss of these farms, rural poverty increased, and there are fewer other jobs for young, would-be farmers, so they have to take dangerous low paying jobs (Nanda and Warms 117). So in come the meat packing factories because they are reliant on cheap wages, to take advantage of the fact that many of these small towns are living in poverty, thus need any jobs they can get (Nanda and Warms 118) This also led to increase in immigrants coming to this small towns because many of these factories were also eager…

Why do you think they are both right?. I believe that Eaton and Mulholland acted with greed, not only because they were not honest with Los Angeles population back in 1905 when they started to build the aqueduct, but as well because their main intention was only to expand the city over everything. They did not consider the catastrophic impact that they will cause on Owens lake and valley. I am not saying that your opinion is wrong, but maybe you should consider how they actually damaged the valley? Do you think that all the damaged is worth it just to expand the city?…

Yes, the hospitable community of Julington Creek is gone forever, instead being exchanged for the bustling city life. My home, Julington Creek, is now a vastly different area than it was when I first moved to Florida, it is growing at an uncontrollable rate, loosing sizable plots of wooded land, and has lost its true identity as a community. When I first moved to Julington Creek, the last homes were finishing construction and the first families were just beginning to settle in.…

Balconies and recessed porches in each unit facilitated exchange outside the home, even as a border of trees around the facility directed attention back to other common amenities—a community swimming pool, a cooperative grocery store, an auditorium, even roof space devoted to socializing.”…
