Ong 1 Nathan Ong Ms. Gomez Freshman English 17 February 2016 Friar Lawrence killed Romeo and Juliet The classic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, by playwright William Shakespeare is about two young lovers from rival noble families who fall in love. When they each believe that each other are dead, they commit suicide. Their deaths eventually lead to the pacification of the feuding families.…
He was to blame because he tried to help Juliet run away with Romeo by giving her the sleeping poison to wake her after 48 hours she found out that Romeo was dead and she decided to kill herself too. This happened because, Romeo didn’t receive the letter that Friar Lawrence sent him. The letter was talking about the plan that Friar Lawrence set up for both of them. “Stay not to question, for the watch us coming; come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay.” (Page 272)…
Friar Lawrence had hoped that the good of their love will reverse the evil of the hatred between the feuding families. He thought it will solve the problems between the Montagues and the Capulets, seeing how Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet. Instead, Friar just complicated the situation for himself and the couple. He was the adult there; therefore, he should have known the right and wrong in the decision of marrying the two. He should have known that this would not settle the dispute.…
In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Friar Lawrence, the Capulets, and the Montagues are the cause for the tragic ending. Friar Lawrence is one of the people who could be the cause for Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence was the one who came up with the plan for Juliet to take the potion that will make everyone think she is dead so she won’t have to marry Paris. Friar Lawrence never told Romeo the plan but he did want to send a letter through another friar.…
In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is most to blame for the deaths because he is the person both Romeo and Juliet look to for advice and he fails them. Friar Lawrence agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet despite his concerns about the marriage thinking it will stop the everlasting family feud. This ultimately leads to a fight causing Tybalt and Mercutio to…
I believe that the fault falls more towards Friar Lawrence. I say this because he is the one that came up with the plan for Romeo and Juliet to follow through that became a disaster. He gave Juliet the poison that made her seem cold and dead which lead to Romeo thinking that she actually was dead that then made Romeo’s decided action to kill himself. Now because Romeo killed himself, it caused Juliet as well to also kill herself when she woke up from the poison. Therefore, they each ended up dead at the end due to suicide.…
One reason I blame Friar Lawrence for the death of Romeo and Juliet is that he was somewhat encouraging them to be together anymore isn't trying to stop them. also, he was the one that married them, without talking to any of their parents for everything. And according to the New York Times- do we need to refine adulthood, It talks about how a kid is an adult when they're 18 and no younger which means Friar Lawrence should have talked to one of her parents to get consent because she was only 13 and she wasn't old enough. Also the fact that he was the one that came up with the idea for Juliet to fake her own death and he's the one that gave her the potion, and so if he didn't give her the potion she wouldn't have faked her death and then Romeo wouldn't have thought she was dead and then Romeo wouldn't have killed himself. In the last thing, I blame for The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet fun is Lord Capulet.…
The first reason Friar Lawrence is to blame is the fact that he did not get the message out in time. The plan was to send Romeo a letter saying that Juliet was going to appear to be dead, but would awake within two days and when Romeo received the second letter saying…
Also, he was very trusted by both Romeo and Juliet that he kept the plan to himself from the beginning to the end. Overall, Romeo and Juliet was a very confusing play and script by William Shakespeare. I think that Friar Lawrence should be blamed for the death because it was his responsibility that the letter should have reached Romeo about the plan. If Romeo, would have got the plan, then the ending wouldn’t have been so dramatic or…
Throughout the play, the Friar acts as Romeo’s mentor and, despite his authority, doesn’t alarm Romeo of his ill-fated decisions. Friar Lawrence says, “Miscarried by my fault, let my old life Be sacrificed some hour before his time Unto therefor of severest law”(5.3.55-56). This quote shows the point in the play that he admits to his wrongdoings. If Friar Lawrence…
One of the main contributors to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence, due to his involvement of marrying Romeo to Juliet. Although marriage does not appear to be a cause of tragedy, the marriage of Romeo to Juliet is vital to the…
The secret marriage, unsuccessful delivery of an important message, and risky substance in Juliet’s possession were the major errors performed by Friar Lawrence within this tragedy. Lastly, Romeo’s character traits sent him into a snowball effect which ends in him being a victim of himself. He makes impulsive decisions, such as obtaining a poisonous substance to kill himself once gaining knowledge of Juliet’s placement in the tomb. Overall, the blame of this tragic romance cannot be planted upon any specific identity within this…
“Property may be destroyed and money may lose its purchasing power; but, character, health, knowledge and good judgement will always be in demand under all conditions.” Roger Babson. In Romeo and Juliet Mistakes tend to happen quite often. These mistakes are a result of many of the core characters.…
Friar Lawrence was loyal to Romeo, and helped by advising the pair. For example, he attempted to stop Juliet's wedding to Paris. Not only but he also helped Juliet escaped from the forced wedding because she said she rather die than marry Paris.. Additionally, Friar Lawrence was truthful with what he did at the end of the play, he tells the full story of what happened and the reasons why he did what he did. “And if aught in this miscarried by my fault, let my old life be sacrificed some hour before this time unto the rigor of severest law” (5.3.275-278).…
