Becoming Free with Education What would the world be like without an education? Despite some students who would love to end education for good, the world without education would mean no freedom. Education is something that allows students to be “free”. While everyone has a different motive for their education, we all have a goal of how we want to use it. How we preserve our education, is up to the individual. In the Malcolm X’s autobiography, he explains the power of education and the effects it had on him as a person. Whether traditional teaching or self-teaching, modern day students and students from the past could agree on how grateful an education can be. I feel as though an education will provide me the knowledge to learn what I need to do in order to move from a decent job to an excellent career. I also think that learning something in school will help me understand how much I appreciate having an education. This is one of the reasons why students in the past fought for an education. The most well-known reason why students fought for an education is so they could have an equal opportunity to other students who were getting an education. They felt as though it wasn’t fair that only certain students receive an education, and some of those students abused the opportunity they were given. This same scenario occurs in some countries today. There are numerous of people who can’t even open a book to try and learn anything, whether the reason is the lack of motivation or not having legal rights to an education. It is a fact that students need money in order to go to college, but money is not a motivation to gain an education. One reason why some students fight for the education might be a reason most people don’t expect. Most people think the reason is money, but the actual reason is wisdom. The more you learn, the more information you obtain, which increases a student’s wisdom. For some students, having wisdom can make them more powerful than the average student. Now that millions of students have the opportunity of receiving an education, most of those students become something that will have a positive effect on their career. Each day, millions of students around the world pick up a book and learn something they will use in the future. Just like the students in the past, modern day students have a motivation to learn something for their personal reasons.
