He wanders to the cloud observatory at the top of the Empire State Building. The child soon imagines that he is playing with a mystical cloud creature, named James (a very friendly Puff). The two new best friends wander into a “cloud factory” where they make tons of new puff beings. A their fun progresses, two adults seize the child and separate him from his imaginary puff friend. The adults return him to his class. Shock and amazement fill the child when he realizes his cloud friend was with them. As the class continues their journey, they spy all of the clouds the pair had previously created. This leads me to believe that the theme and symbolism of this book was: imagination can be anywhere and wonder will find it’s way into your life.
“Flotsam” is about a boy named Clem who finds an old camera washed up on the beach, he discovers a film canister still inside and when he gets the pictures developed he finds a fictional world full of fascinating creatures. But there is a climax when he find a picture containing all the previous users taking pictures by the beach after this he knows that he has to throw it back after taking his own picture so others can enjoy the same wonder he felt after finding the
