In many arguments, there are quite a few different viewpoints and how strongly one feels about a certain topic. The cliché’ of never discussing religion or politics are prime examples of strong viewpoints where it is difficult if not impossible to change someone’s belief or opinion. Sometimes it is better to “agree to disagree” then to get upset or lose a friend over an argument. A major issue that has been an ongoing debate on wrong or right is the topic of pro-choice vs. pro-life. However, controversial this subject may be, it will be the topic of conversation for this paper, and why being pro-life is the dogmatism view of the writer.

Mr. McAvoy decided to tell his views. “America is not the greatest country in the world.” He used statistics to show his viewpoint that America only leads the world in three categories: The number of incarcerated citizens per capita, the number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending (The Newsroom). The audience was astonished. Many people in America would not share, or even want to hear this viewpoint.
Dogmatism in being Pro-Life.
In this topic, there have been many strong viewpoints, and legal battles that have advanced all the way to the supreme court with such cases as Roe vs. Wade. Currently, the law allows abortions up to a certain point in pregnancy. However, the stance should allow abortions only in the instance of danger to mother or severe abnormality to child. This viewpoint is based entirely on personal religious beliefs. Many people take sides based upon political affiliations with conservative Republicans typically being pro-life and liberal Democrats choosing the side of pro-choice. My political affiliation is independent primarily due to this reason. I
