They risk their lives every day to keep the country working smoothly. Every time someone needs a law enforcement officer it is most likely their worst day, nobody calls an officer on a good day. In the recent social climate they do not get a good rep and that really makes me sad because of a couple bad apples ruin the reputation of the whole group of law enforcers. He is midway through his first song and Fred starts hearing the sound of what sounds like fireworks in rapid succession. He then hears another burst and realizes that those are not fireworks those are gunshots. He snaps into police officer mode and starts directing the mass of people. As he is directing the mass of people he is struck by shrapnel from a stray bullet. He does not realize it until the wind pushing his bloody shirt against his body and he feels the cool, wetness of his shirt on his skin.

Lance was attending the same festival as Fred and was enjoying his time just as much as his fellow officer was. When the gunfire started he immediately found people to shield and started directing concertgoers on where to go and the safest places to go were. A family that Lance helped reported to a news organization that he was covering them and assuring them that they were not going to die today and he was going to make sure that they are going to get out of there alive. In a later interview, he was asked about his heroic actions and he replied “I’m no hero, I just did what needed to be

Did you know that 32 percent of black people killed by an officer this year was unarmed? Then follows white people with 15 percent, hispanics and latinos with 25 percent, and standing fairly next to blacks is Native American? Law Enforcement Interview Police officers are seen under the radar in everyday life. By under the radar I mean, we notice them driving around town, or when we are slamming on our brakes passing them going twenty miles over the speed limit on the interstate, or when we all pretend to be perfect drivers when we notice them trailing us from our rear view mirrors. What we don’t notice is who the police officer that’s giving us a ticket is, or what their ranking is or how well trained or educated they are. Police officers are easily disliked by the public because of their jobs of handing out tickets, or making necessary arrests but all they’re trying to do is keep the community safe.…

In an article titled “The Police Were Created to Control Working Class and Poor People, Not ‘Serve and protect’’ by Sam Mitrani the editor states that police officers were never made to serve and protect the population. They were not made to stop crime or promote justice. Instead, Ms. Mitrani states that around the nineteenth century “police officers” were made to protect the new age of wage-labor from the so called threat of the working class. Then she continues on to give evidence of such cases but in the same sense “police officers” had a choice on where or not they wanted to hold such a title. The evolution and meaning of a police officer has changed since the 19th century.…
