Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the US whose term in office lasted from 1933 – 1945. Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882 in Dutchess County, New York. Entering politics in 1910 Roosevelt served as a member in the New York Senate and moved up to Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Governor of New York, then President. Roosevelt won in the 1933 election during the midst of the Great Depression and used advocacy and optimism to bring back the morale of the nation. During his first hundred days, he passed the “New Deal” bringing back jobs and the economy, giving relief for the sick and elderly, and getting American industry up and running again. Roosevelt efforts were to keep the United States neutral during the war but after the Japanese
