Surface morphology of the lansoprazole microspheres were shown in Figure 6. Particle surface of formulation F1 was slightly rough surface but spherically and F2 and F3 was smooth, oval and discrete. The smoothness of the surface increase which may be due to increasing ratio of polymer. Very less particulate matter of the drug were seen on the surface of the microsphere indicating uniform distribution of the drug in the

Albuterol (also known as Salbutamol) is a medication indicated for the treatment of both asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This agent works by activating 훽2-adrenergic receptors in the lungs, causing bronchodilation and improving airway patency. In the acute care setting, albuterol is often given via nebulization.1,2 The tablet formulation of albuterol exists as well. However, with albuterol having a low systemic bioavailability, ordering albuterol in its tablet form is not appropriate.…

The different chemicals that were used in this experiment were Pilocarpine, Atropine Sulfate, Epinephrine, Digitals, Potassium, Sodium, and calcium ion concertation. Pilocarpine stimulates the effect of parasympathetic nerve stimulation by enhancing acetylcholine release. Atropine Sulfate is a drug that blocks the effect of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine which is liberated by the parasympathetic nerve endings. Cardiac muscle and skeletal muscle are both different in functionally and in fine structure. Epinephrine is the fight or flight neurotransmitter that is released to increase awareness.…

The calibration curves were linear for concentrations between 15-150 µg/mL. The linearity of the calibration curves was evaluated by the values of the correlation coefficients (r2). The correlation coefficients were 0.999 for Lamivudine, 0.999 for Zidovudine and 0.999 for Nevirapine. The results of the linearity experiment are listed in…

Loratadine (LOR) is a second generation antihistamine used to treat allergies without causing drowsiness. The activity mechanism of LOR is a competitive-reversible inhibitor of the histamine receptor tissue, and therefore, this prevents histamine binding and receptor activation [1]. LOR is a drug belonging to a class II in the biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS), which it has low solubility in water and high permeability [2]. Moreover, LOR is a weak base with a pKa of 5.0 and its solubility is affected by pH media [3]. Accordingly, LOR has the lowest solubility at pH 7.5 and the highest at pH 1.2 [2].…

However, the two other spots present in the unknown drug were still identified by calculating and recognizing the similarities in their ratio to front values. Given that the stationary phase utilized in this experiment consisted of silica gel, a very polar substance due to the large amount of hydroxyl groups present on the surface, more polar components should travel less on the gel. Polarity creates a slight negative atom and a slight positive atom due to the differences in electronegativity. This may cause a more polar component to have a…

We as an agency, responsible for passing a medication have to be aware of the side effects of these medications. All I am saying is that with the side effects I am concerned about our ability to monitor for these issues. I also understand that all of us have to decide between the side effects and living without the medication however, if we personally are aware of the side effects and notice them we have the ability to stop taking the medication at any time Irene does not.…

6.3. A. Microemulsions (135-143) Microemulsions are clear, stable, isotropic mixtures of oil, water, and surfactant, frequently in combination with a cosurfactant 135-137. Microemulsions have several advantages such as enhanced drug solubility, good thermodynamic stability, and higher transdermal permeability over conventional formulations 138,139. Many studies reported the use of microemulsions as topical drug delivery vehicles showed their ability to improve transdermal and dermal delivery properties 140-141. Microemulsions have several permeation enhancement mechanisms such as increase in concentration gradient and thermodynamic activity toward the skin 142. 1.…

Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to synthesize aspirin from salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. The general theory behind this experiment was to study the synthesis of a drug from organic materials. During the experiment, esterification had occurred between reactants salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. Then, phosphoric acid would catalyze the reaction and water would be added to decompose the remaining acetic anhydride. Through the process of filtration, aspirin crystals were collected and separate from the liquid acetic acid-water solution.…
