This was my twelfth and final night shift following Meagan at Rady Children’s Hospital. I was expecting the day after Thanksgiving to be really busy. To my surprise, it was the least busy night out of all the shifts I saw while I was at Rady’s. The census was at an all time low of 15. Due to the low census and recent holiday, all the nurses on the floor were calm and giddy.…
Interaction My initial response to the concept of forgiveness therapy for abuse survivors was that it seemed counter-intuitive, as it can be perceived to excuse the abusive behavior and invalidate the suffering of the victim. However, this impression fails to acknowledge the therapeutic definition of forgiveness as used in therapy, a release of resentment (Reed & Enright, 2006). Upon review of this definition of forgiveness therapy, I concluded that it was in line with other therapeutic ideals that encourage release of negative thought patterns and encourage the construction of positive thought patterns and behaviors.…
Complicated grief happens to approximately 10-20% of bereaved persons and is described as a chronic heightened state of mourning (Khoshaba). When experiencing complicated grief one needs grief therapy not to be confused with grief counseling; in grief counseling you facilitate the bereaved person through the mourning tasks, while grief therapy you are identifying and resolving conflicts that are keeping you from successfully completing the mourning tasks. If a person is experiencing complicated grief they may or may not realize it themselves but the important part is that they are willing to accept your help. A person experiencing complicated grief tends to yo-yo between the stages of grief with no resolution. “Complicated grievers remember…

And through this, I found new strengths and weaknesses. I established my intelligence as being something higher than I ever thought it was. I was pushed out of my comfort-zone, forced to interact with the other students and reach out to my teachers when experiencing troubles with the course work – something I never had to do before. In latterly discovering my strengths, I did the same with my weaknesses, finding that some were bad habits hard to break. However, this didn’t stop me.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…
Every time I thought about starting this paper I ran into a problem with the first question you had asked. My problem was I had taken this class before and was familiar with all the skills we went over. That’s not to say I was able to recall them perfectly or do them the best, but I knew them, in some way shape or form. So after thinking about this I approached the first question you had asked a little different. From taking the class before I noticed my skills where farther along than just starting with a blank slate.…
Why is it important to forgive. To forgive means to stop feeling anger towards a person or blaming them for something wrong they did. Many people think of forgiving as a reconstruction of a relationship with the person who did you wrong, but its understanding the situation and moving past it. I personally think forgiving is important for us to continue with our daily life, it makes us healthier, even happier. You might want to consider forgiving, as it means not hurting yourself anymore as emotions might get in the way and it is life changing, it makes you let go of the past that has haunted you.…
I feel that I was able to accomplish this because of my hard work and great feedback that I have received from my classmates. My other important goal I had for myself was to fix all of my grammar errors which have haunted me throughout my entire educational career. I am most certain that I accomplished this goal mostly because of the help of my handbook without it I might have still been lost. I mostly feel proud of how well I did in my narrative essay because that was a first for me and was also the one that stressed me out the most. After completing it I found that it was really not that difficult the basic thing is just to tell a story about yourself and adding sources to provide backup.…
