The novel I read was “Forged by Fire”. “Forged by Fire” is a realistic fiction book written by Sharon M. Draper. This book was published in 1997. The story is about Gerald, an African American boy who struggles with his life after the death of his aunt.
When I read this book I made a connection to my life, I felt grateful that my life isn’t like Gerald’s. Now to run down why, Gerald lived with his crazy mom for the first 3 years of his life, he was abused and left alone a lot, Gerald was really scared of his mom and would hide from her, and was never treated good like a 3 year old should have.
