After analyzing the shoe wear patterns above, our team of forensic Pedorthists have gained valuable insight regarding the shoe-owner’s unique (abnormal) gait. Our leading theory describes gait mechanics that feature abnormalities including: severe overpronation and a low-gear toe off bilaterally. The shoes have clearly been used for for too long, possibly on hard, rough surfaces, as the forefoot and heel are starting to wear past the midsole, exposing deeper layers.
Evidence
1) Crushed medial midsole (heel) & medial outsole wear (heel) – Ideally, the foot in late-swing is phase is supinated and slightly upturned (inverted) relative to the ground, this will result in lateral heel contact. As observed in figure 1-2, this is not the case, as excessive medial wear is observed, indication medial heel strike. The most likely causation a medial heel strike is an excessive duration of pronation throughout the previous gait cycle (Jones, J. Pathomechanical gait patterns). Without sufficient re-supination the foot cannot prepare for a proper, lateral heel strike. The …show more content…
Pathomechanical gait patterns). In addition, there appears to be greater bilaterally wear at the 4th-5th metatarsal head, this can be explained by an abductory twist. Conveniently an abductory twist is a potential outcome of both FHL (blockade that limits forward progression) and an adducted talus/pronated SJT - conflicting motions - externally rotating pelvis and tibia verses a pronating foot and talus, resulting in elastic strain. “unwinds” with heel lift (Jones, J.
